Soap for our Sisters!

As someone who is discerning his vocation, I’ve been reading about some religious orders off and on for the last few months. One of the things that strikes me is that many communities rely on the public to purchase goods that they make in order to support the community. And so I think that it is important for us to not only support those with religious vocations with our prayers, but also, when we can, to support them by purchasing their products, even if it means spending a little more money than if we went to say, Wal-Mart or Target.

So, running low on soap myself, I ordered some soap this morning from the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration from Clyde, Missouri. Meet Sister Cathleen Marie and learn the secret ingredient of her soap. Anyway, I’ll let you know when the soap comes whether it was a good spiritual investment.

Many communities sell soaps, candies, fudges, cakes, and many other things. So check them out, and, when you can, skip the mega-stores and support the Church’s religious vocations.

  1. She’s cute! This makes me really want to start making soap.

  2. DN, I’m so happy that you are still “discerning.” I’ve been reading your blog off and on, and thought you had decided against the priesthood. I resolved to pray for you, as often the answer doesn’t come so quickly. I’m just very glad that you have not given up yet, and please know you will be in my prayers…especially during Eucharistic Adoration. May Jesus make known His path for you in due time.

    Blessings,
    Patricia
